Onboard Services
 
Boat Facts
Up to three boats are in ferry service operation at one time. All boats are accessible to riders with disabilities. Wheelchair accessible rest rooms are located on the first deck.


The flagship of the service is the M.V. Encinal. Acquired in 1997, the Encinal is a 25 knot, 388 passenger catamaran. The Encinal has three decks with outdoor seating on the second and third decks. Indoor seating is available on the first and second decks.

 
Food & Beverage Services
The ferry features a full service beverage and snack bar. Hot and cold beverages (beer, wine, sodas, coffee, etc.), are available for purchase, as are snacks and fresh pastries.

Holidays with limited Alameda/Oakland Ferry service:

Martin Luther King Day - Regular Weekday Schedule
 
Holidays with no Alameda/Oakland Ferry service:
President's Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day.
 
Bikes
Bikes are welcome on the Ferry, however, gasoline powered bikes are not allowed aboard due to U.S. Coast Guard regulations. On the Encinal, bikes must be stored on the first deck fantail in the racks provided. Space is limited and is on a first come, first served basis. Bicyclists should wait until other passengers have disembarked before they depart from the Ferry.
 
Riders with Disabilities
All boats are accessible to riders with disabilities and provide a wheelchair accessible restroom. Please ask one of our deck hands for assistance with boarding or departing the ferry. Persons with disabilities are encouraged to obtain a Regional Transit Connection Discount Card from the Metropolitan Transportation Commission to show eligibility for a reduced fare.
 
Groups
Groups are welcome on the Alameda/Oakland Ferry. Groups of 25 or more persons should call ahead for reservations. For Angel Island trips, reservations are required for groups of 15 or more persons. Please call 415-705-8204, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., to make all reservations.
 
Pets
Special assistance and/or animals in hand-carried containers are allowed on the Alameda / Oakland Ferry.
 
Smoking
Smoking is prohibited for all indoor facilities on the ferry. On the Encinal, smoking is allowed only on the third deck.
