Meeting to Discuss Transfer of City's Ferry Services to Water Transit Authority In 1990, the State Legislature established the San Francisco Bay Area Water Transit Authority (WTA) to provide new Bay Area ferry service by launching new routes or by expanding existing services. The WTA legislation also permitted the WTA to administer existing ferry services if requested to do so by the current service authority. The City of Alameda is considering the possibility of asking the WTA to administer both the Alameda Harbor Bay and Alameda/Oakland ferry services. To gather public comment on the ferry service transfer, the City will hold two community meetings. Meeting specifics are:
