FREE Ferry Rides
Tomorrow, Friday, July 21st

Tomorrow, Friday, July 21, is a Spare-the-Air FREE Public Transit Day. Public transit agencies throughout the Bay Area will provide free rides to encourage travelers to leave their cars at home. Both the Alameda/Oakland and Harbor Bay ferries will participate in the promotion by offering free rides all day in all directions.

To accomodate anticipated customer demand the Alameda/Oakland ferry will add additional boats and increase service throughout the day. In addition, we will station Customer Assistance Representatives at Alameda Main Street, the SF Ferry Building and Oakland Clay Street from mid-morning through peak commute period. We are do everything we can to minimize delays and ensure that there is adequate passenger capacity for our riders

The free ferry rides are offered to encourage commuters to use public transit when the Bay Area Air Quality Management District declares a Spare the Air Day. The free Spare the Air Day Ferry Rides program is sponsored by the City of Alameda, the Metropolitan Transportation Commission and the Bay Area Air Quality Management District.
