Main Street Barge Schedule
for Shipyard Repairs

On Monday, February 12, riders boarding the ferry at Main Street will find that both the passenger walkway and the boarding barge have been changed. These temporary changes are part of the long planned Main Street Barge Repair Project ("Project"). The Project involves removing the old barge from the terminal and transporting it to San Francisco where it will be dry-docked, painted and repaired. To permit continued ferry operations, a smaller barge will be temporarily installed at the terminal. To accommodate the smaller barge, the 200 foot aluminum walkway will be re-configured. These changes should not impact ferry operations.

The Project requires 2 barge "switch-outs." To minimize project impact on ferry operations, switch-outs will take place on weekends. The first barge switch-out is scheduled for February 10 and 11. The date of the second switch-out will depend upon how long the old barge must remain at the shipyard. The goal is to complete both barge switch-outs in February, as there is no weekend service in February though it may be necessary to perform the final switch-out on a weekend in March.
