New Oakland Parking Validation Procedures
On January 3, 2006, the Port of Oakland will implement a Pay-on-Foot procedure for the Washington Street Garage. Ferry riders will continue to receive free parking but the parking validation process will change. The key change is that customers will now be required to go to one of several parking Pay Stations located at the garage prior to returning to their cars. Here is the new process:
- Upon entering the Washington Street Garage you will receive a parking ticket. Be sure to take the ticket with you.
- Once onboard the ferry, ask the ticket seller for a free Parking Voucher.
- Prior to returning to your car, insert your voucher along with your parking ticket into one of the Pay Stations located at:
- The corner of Clay and 2nd Streets
- On Washington Street next to the Bank of America ATM across from the Cinema
- On Washington Street next to Yoshi's
- Just follow directions on the Pay Station. You will be asked to insert both your free Parking Voucher and your parking ticket. The machine will issue a receipt for exiting the garage.
Thank you for your patience as the Port implements this new procedure.
