Ferry Service In the Event of a BART Strike

In the event of a BART Strike, the Alameda Oakland Ferry will expand its service beginning Wednesday, July 6th in order to accommodate the increased passenger demand. Expanded service will consist of direct service between the Oakland Clay St. terminal and the San Francisco Ferry Building, and direct service between the Alameda Main St. terminal and the Ferry Building.

Three boats will be assigned to the Oakland-SF run and two boats will be assigned to the Alameda-SF run.

On Wednesday, July 6, service from both Oakland and Alameda will begin at 6 am and run continuously until 11 am. Between 11:00 AM and 3:30 PM, the ferry will operate according to its regular midday service schedule. However, starting with the 4:10 PM Ferry Building departure, the ferry wil return to its expanded schedule with direct service to Oakland and direct service to Alameda Main Street. The last Ferry Building departure to the east bay wil be at approximately 8:25 PM.

Parking - There is a limited amount of parking at both east bay terminals. Riders are encouraged to take public transportation, carpool or be dropped off at the ferry terminals.

Oakland parking - Please note that for the duration of the strike there will be no free parking at Oakland. Parking in the Washington Street garage and in the special overflow parking area east of the ferry terminal will cost $2.00 per day with validation.

Alameda Main Street parking - Free parking is available in the lots adjacent to the terminal, along the street and in the overflow lot west of the terminal. Note: Do not park in the Rosenblum Winery or Bay Ship and Yacht lot to the east of the terminal.
